Good Profile Picture will Bring Good Impression

There’s no reason why I suddenly write this post in english. I just want to write in english 🙂

And also, I don’t want to be narcisstic in this post.. 😛 I just want to share an insight I got.. It’s about a personal image.

As you know, we use pictures to represent ourselves in online world. We use profile pictures at Facebook, Twitter, YM, blog, avatar, and at another social media. People will make their own perception and judgement about us when they seeing our pictures. Before know more deeply about us, they simply see our picture to set their first impression.

Axe’s commercial tagline, “Kesan pertama begitu menggoda, selanjutnya terserah Anda” define how important a first impression is. So, do choose carefully your profile picture, make sure it will give good first impression about you, not bad first impression, or just a mediocre first impression.

My friends at my social network (Facebook, Twitter, Plurk) may aware that I changed my profile picture.. The pictures was taken when I spoke at Open Source University Meetup’s Software Freedom Day 2009 (my presentation slide could be seen or downloaded here). I intentionally asked my best friend, Asad Fatchul ‘Ilmi to take good pictures of me using his cool Canon DSLR.. And he did it! 🙂

From dozens good pictures of me, I picked the best one to be assigned as my profile picture.. I want to create an image that I’m a young entrepreneur and also a professional speaker, so I chose this one. Good composition, color, and pose of course, convinced me to choose this one. 🙂
